Give me some old school

boneym.es

Two people inspired or should i say exacerbated this post because i had it in mind but i just....#shakes head#
#scolds meself# Just write something babes!!!!!

Thanks to Simply me and Ay who share my taste in old school music, I'm glad I'm not the only one on this boat. music of those days made sense y'know. some were not even gospel singers..

True confession; most of the old school songs i loved were not gospel and i'm not even a good dancer but i can do the "running man".(thats for when we're fooling around oo)..LOL..or snap my fingers and do that groovy thing those old school people were doing those days.
sheesh!!...one would wonder where on planet earth do i reside...or rather what world am i operating in.. i even love movie soundtracks (sometimes the movie might be crap but the soundtrack might just end up being nice),

Point; i listen to good songs that edifies, motivates and is worth the time", and please HAVE good lyrics., not blabbing about Fame and Sex, thank you

Boney M...
I'm black and i still find it amusing that this group of musicians were created by a German producer.. imagine that (i think of Germany and all i can reflect back to is the Nazi time or Hitler) yet i didn't do history oo
Am i the only one on this boat?...who thinks of Germany as hitler?,or Nazi,,anyone else?....#covers face#
I just loved the way Boney M dropped a song like its hot. i hear them singing ''By the rivers of babylon, Mary's boy child, Brown girl in the ring (I loved this song ehn..especially when they get to the part.."show me your motion, tra la la la la"), Daddy cool, Take the Heat off me, and their Christmas compilation songs
where are all those instruments they used those days. those guys were some cool stuff o...with their Hipster pants and all sorta accessories.LOL

Whitney too was one of my favorite and her death was so sad. one thing i love about black people is that when they sing e.g the likes of Donna summers, Patti Labelle, (please remind me if you know any), most especially Whitney(I'll always love you, i wanna dance with somebody, Greatest love of all), they can shout..as in they can add drama to their song ehn, if you're not careful, you'll get left behind if you're singing with them. such strong voices.
you need to hear Damita Haddon singing "it all belongs to you.''
Dolly Patton's coat of many colors has that soft touch of music that makes you smile
sometimes, i must confess thats what i love in music, the passion...as in you'll feel the person singing the song ehn, you'll be like "whoa! easy on that one sugar!..loool'
see kirk Franklin and the rest,  i don't think there's any song he has sang that he doesn't jump about.loool..(k..apart from imagine me sha)
Is there any wonder i feel that babe..Jordin sparks" she has such a strong voice, you need to hear her songs and the passion contained within
not just shouting oo, cos shouting without passion is just serious noise making

i don't know how many people remember Chaka chaka that sang.."thank you Mr. Dj for playing my song''...Essien's "seun rere",
And isn't that what music is about, it's for the soul, its much more than lyrics and entertainment, it should motivate, inspire and make you forget your sorrows, make you laugh and realize that there's so much more to life than the madness and trauma. it should remind you of that Love that's still present and our ability to love even when the world's own has waxed cold
but its so sad that these days, the songs we hear tend to be shallow and superficial, no in-depth anything, just there sha...

The second group of ol' school peeps I love is ABBA
now these guys are cool and the song i don't think i can ever stop loving is "Dancing queen.''
as in i don't think anyone will hear that song and wont dance or move or something...as in the song is ...lets call it groovy..#biggrin#
My Best part.(you know that part where you've been keeping quiet due to formality and you cant contain it anymore and you just sing loud, happy with yourself , well, here it goes ''you can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life...oohhhh..see that girl, watch that scene, diggin' the dancing queen.''

They have this one too."i have a dream....i believe in angels" and this one is inspirational big time. the good thing is that most contemporary artiste's re-sang these songs and so, we listen to their music with more sophisticated instruments
so many other old school peeps but i think I'll stop here for now and leave you with ABBA's Dancing Queen
Enjoy

IDentity issues

                                                              source

Please show me your ID please?
This is in my head as I write this...
I was in the bus one day when I spotted a cool looking guy who donned a nice outfit. only that His outfit was a cliche and it made me flash back to one of D'banj's videos..
N.B...I'm not a fan and on a normal day, i wouldn't go looking for this man who loves to imitate Fela but as i would have it, His video located me. kudos to my cousin who has most of these songs that people listen to these days because count me out, I appreciate music when I hear your lyrics..., and mind you, the lyrics must be deep and not just some words like...lets go to the dance floor and shake our booty
We need more than shaking our booty in Nigeria.., even on planet earth
and we need good and sensible music that will make us reflect and not make people to keep drinking, raping people and breaking bottles

Was there any wonder I was formerly addicted to rock? Lyrics...lyrics...the artiste had his soul in the song...don't know which other way to explain this though
okay.., before i drift away from the main topic, i saw this guy's outfit or should i call it costume and then my mind flashes back to D'banj's dressing in His Oliver twist video
identity lost, all i can see when i look at this guy is D'banj!, D'banj!....D'banj!...oliver twist...sheeesh!!

where's the guy's own identity?

He's just a copycat, because He'll never be D'banj, (although I'm wondering what the guy sings anyway) not in this life or in the life to come.
And then I realized while i was discussing with someone that we love to look like someone and yet claim to be unique in our own way. Our sense of fashion, our sense of thinking and our mode of dressing have now been fashioned accordingly to what the world says and I'm like Hellooooo....have we been put in a zombie stage where we grope in the dark while some group of people dictates what we do, and what we wear and how we think and live
the individual i discussed with put it point blank that we have No form of identification anymore. when it comes to the Hair aspect(no offense and please don't aim the sniper at me oo abeg..LOL)..We rush for things that are not even ours in the first place. talk about Brazilian hair or Mexican hair or Human hair.
I hear Human hair and i'm like Whoa...lool...whose hair is that..right on my head..and I'm gonna sleep on my head carrying some form of hair on my head....#shudders#

This multicolored clothes people wear these days with the slippers..(i don't like things that are common. to me they already have a price tag..A general price tag when someone looks at you)

I hate looking like a price tag

I look at some guys with this carrot jeans and tight T-shirt with your boxers showing while your jeans is lowered and i'm like "whoa!!...hold it right there cowboy..LOOl...no one wants to see your underwear...seriously!!!...' but it's the new fad in town. i see some guys dressed like this and my mind flashes to wizkid....
Identity lost...
I don't see you anymore, I see a child who got famous and who's rants about dancing whereas when people have not eaten, how will they party...or Someone singing about "his father being rich and you dare not stop Him"...and I'm like.."hello!!..whack!!...go get your own money dude!...your father's money cannot continue being your money silly!!''
Another thing that amazes me most is where do they get all these girls that dance in the Videos
one of my friends stated one time that she dared not pull that kind of stunt. her mother would kill her or was "disown" the word she used
Can't remember and I'm not even interested in that. all I'm interested in is that You get a life and keep your integrity, and stop copying people and be an original
So many copycats, so many people wanna belong and so many fit in yet just a few have their real Identity when I see them
When I look at you, I wanna see You for You, and not you looking like Beyonce or Rihanna or one of those celebrities who really need God in their life. Why can't the world choose to imitate you instead? And i hate when guys try comparing a girl to Beyonce..e.g A shape or body like Beyonce like she's some form of goddess or role model. that girl will never be like Beyonce and so Just Shut UP already!!..if you don't like her for who she is, then..., Adios amigos!!!..She's just being herself and stop pushing her to compromise
If you like, travel and go and marry Beyonce or whoever celebrity you wanna marry, but stop imposing your lust on women who have refused to follow a certain pattern of Hollywood's lies and respect them

And Ladies, please raise your tag and let them see your name and origin boldly written on it.
If you want a gladiator uniform, you already have it. in case you don't know or rather forgotten, you were enlisted as a soldier of Christ when you surrendered your life to Him
As for me, my Tag reads.."A Chosen generation, a Royal priesthood, A Holy nation.''
Do a double check and you'll see.."I am God's own"
what does yours read?

I'm not beefing ooo, but this had been on my mind for a while and i just thought I should share

N.B: for those that followed Lori's journal or rather got my gist in my Journal episode, check out the Lessons learned from Lori's journal(the last episode) that was where i gave my vote of thanks to every one because i noticed most of you didn't see it.
God bless you all darlings

Lesson's Learned from Lori's Journal

 Hey you!..

How did you like the ‘’journal of an old flame,’’ well, Lori has given us majority of the lessons learned but I guess I just wanted to point out Temi’s attitude towards her sister when she had to come get her in the men’s restroom. I don’t know if you noticed I didn’t relate to that even till the end of the story.
People who have done wrong or made mistakes in life don’t need someone to criticize them when they’ve done wrong. What they need is someone who will run to them and kiss them and tell them it’s going to be okay. It’s just a mistake. It might have cost so much…

But it’s still a mistake...

And that way they tend to draw closer to you and tell you everything you need to know, not in a hurry and it may take months or probably years of healing but I guess Lori’s didn’t take up to a year and I’m glad.
I remember the story of the prodigal son, the adulteress caught in the act and the tax collectors and all we see our Savior do was to draw them closer to himself and not judge them for their act of immorality and lawlessness. He didn’t cast them away but I guess there’s also one more thing I remember clearly which most people forget to add after forgiving the adulteress.” Go and Sin NO MORE!!’’..it’s so easy for us to say..’’let he who has not sinned cast the first stone’’ when we do wrong but we forget the warning Jesus gave to her. Don’t forget he has the rod and the staff and so
when you do wrong he’s ready to spank you with that rod..

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child but the rod drives it far from him.—Proverbs

But I guess the staff is always there to comfort us after the spanking but please don’t let the spanking get too much and you begin to wander away like a fatherless child.
And so, let’s be mindful how we judge others right in our hearts every day. You never know what you might do if you were in Lori’s shoes or someone else’s shoes. Most people need someone to understand them.
When you understand them, then they’re ready to listen to what you have to say.
It took me a while before I took in this teaching from God, but it has helped my Christian life and it’s gonna help yours…

Look for those small foxes in the vine.

You might not know it, but it might just be right there, on one side of your heart, lurking secretly.

The SECOND lesson is just to let us know that somethings we wish for, pray for so desperately might not actually be the best thing if God actually considers giving it to us and so, if we go ahead and get it our own way, it always ends up disastrous and we end up hurting and lonely.
God knows what’s best for us and he can never withhold any good thing from his children

C’mon!!!..,if he could not spare his only son for us, how much more

THIRD LESSON, any relationship that doesn’t smell God is not worth considering; I tell you it’ll only bring you down. If not soon, then gradually

As iron sharpeneth iron, so should a friend!

Ask God before entering a relationship. No matter how much you want it to happen or how much you think it might work. Once you don’t know God’s view about the whole ordeal, don’t bother venturing into it.
It only worsens it

FOURTH LESSON, you don’t have to have sex physically before you’ve sinned.
Jesus said…”I tell you if any man looks upon a woman lustfully has already committed adultery in his heart.’
Lori might not have known but she had secretly lusted after Danny for a long time ignorantly, and sometimes God allows some situations to happen so that our weaknesses might come out and we can deal with them, and destroy them completely
Cutting it from the surface will only make the tree grow again
Uproot everything till nothing of the flesh contaminates your relationship with God.

I'm glad that by God's grace i'm through with story. would have loved to do a journal 2(Lori's new found faith and adventure due to Northern girl's request) but naahhh...LOOL...i think i'll rather stop here for now. That's what series do to you. it leaves the Writer and the Reader committed and all sort of stuff and i want to start blogging some other things
